Discussion on Chapter 4 Topic




There are about 11 topics here. Choose ONE to discuss it among your peers and POST it IN YOUR BLOG. ( The due date would be on Friday, 15th Feb 2008)

1. In business, we teach ethics, as a start, since advert is to do business, there must be a lesson on ethics as well. However, illegal products, in respect to ethics still are available on the Internet eventhough the reprecation is arrest. Discuss this.

2.Explain why online trust is more difficult to achieve than offline trust. Examine a market research web site ( example may vary from acnielsen.com or claritas.com) Discuss what might motivate a consumer to provide answers to market research questions.

3. Enter clairol.com to determine your best hair color. You can upload your own photo to the studio and see how different shades look on you. You can also try different hairstyles. It also is for men. How can these activities increase branding? How can they increase sales?

4.  Enter pewinternet.org and pewresearch.org. What research do they conduct that is relevant to B2C? To B2B? Discuss why B2C marketing and advertising methods may not fit B2B.

5. Relate banner swapping to a banner exchange. Choose 2 examples of web sites that in fact utilise banner swapping/banner exchange. Enter selfpromotion.com and find some interesting promotion ideas for the Web.

6. When you buy a banner ad, you actually lease space for a specific time period. In milliondollarhomepage.com, you buy space forever. Compare this and discuss.

7. Enter hotwired.com and espn.com. Identify all of the advertising methods used on each site. Can you find those that are targeted advertisements? What revenue sources can you find on the ESPN site? ( Try to find at least 6)

8. Discuss how Google generates ads for its customers. Discuss why banners are popular in Internet advertising.

9. What are demographics? Why is it important in determining market segmentation in the US?

10. Refer to Case 4.1 ( pg 172) and answer 3 questions  listed.

11. One of the ways to observe customer’s shopping pattern on the Internet is by TRANSACTION logs. What are those and what are the other methods applicable for this purpose?

    Ms Sleena..Due date for Tutorial Week 04 is on 15 Feb 2008? I know it sounds quite impossible to ask for an extention for the Tutorial Week 04 dateline..But I must try to ask also..Cz I believe everyone is buzy preparing for their mid sem..If can pls do extend the tutorial week 04 dateline..
